About Us
The main focus of TOP is to sterilise as many strays as we possibly can, and to educate people on how to look after their animals properly. Mandela Day provides an amazing opportunity to do this annually.
Weeks before the actual day we started to raise funds, sign up dogs and cats to be sterilised, started the planning for the day. We had teams mapping the areas to make the collection and dropping off easier. The community of Chris Nissen Park made their church hall available to us. Together with Dr. Hildidge Beer from Ebervet CVC, lots of volunteers from TOP, Pets and Hart, 2 vets from Ebervet Pet Clinic Strand, 2 vets from Country Animal Clinic and a vet from Gordon’s Bay Animal Welfare we were able to do a 102 dogs and cats on the day.
It was a massive undertaking and we had an amazing team. From the collecting of the animals, to the signing in, weighing, prepping, aftercare to the dropping off each and every animal with a bag of food, de-wormed and treated for ticks and fleas it was as crazy as an ants nest, but it went smoothly and we were tired but elated at the end of the day.
On 24 October 2020 TOP had our very first PAWS ON PATROL Dog walk and Fun day at The Manor House, Knorhoek Estate. Patrick Cromwell from Magic 828 was our crazy, fun, brilliant MC and entertained us from early till late. Hills and Pets Elite were 2 of our biggest sponsors for the day.
Two of the best demos in the Western Cape was done by Mad4Flyball WC and K9 Search and Rescue Association of the Western Cape. They kept the crowds entertained with all the amazing dogs. We had coffee and pancakes, treats and lots of goodies for the four legged friends. We also had an adoption day and quite a few of our puppies were adopted. The dog walk itself was 2.5 km or 5km, and the weather was just perfect! Enjoy the pictures and join us for the next one!
