TOP was started in 2016 by a group of ladies who saw a need in Chris Nissen Park, Somerset West. It was started as a division of Cape Dachshund Rescue. TOP has since grown and is now standing on its own as a registered NPO and our work has spread to helping animals in need in the Helderberg area.
Our vision and goals involve uplifting and improving the lives of animals in poorer communities.
As many know TOP has two main core goals; Education and Sterilisation. We truly believe that Sterilisation is at the core of all rescue and is something we are extremely passionate about.
You can drop off at Ebervet Pet Clinic, Ebervet Lion Square or Ebervet Strand.
Educating owners on how to look after their pets. Teaching the importance of vaccinating, sterilising, tick and flea treatments, grooming, deworming and basic health care.
Our main objective is sterilisation to reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies, pups and other related health issues.
We not only help improve the lives of animals in the poorer community, we re-home surrendered animals from these areas. We also provide veterinary treatment to injured or sick animals. We provide feeding programs to animals in need.
And it all starts over with new pups/kittens, new owners and new areas.

We are very privileged to announce that we received a grant from the National Lotteries Comission (NLC) towards the much-needed sterilizations in our local townships.
These funds will be used towards our ongoing weekly sterilizations as well as any big sterilization days that will be arranged in the future. Keep an eye on our Facebook page, Instagram page and Website to see how many sterilizations we have done and what we are up to.
The NLC relies on funds from the proceeds of the National Lottery. The Lotteries Act guides the way in which NLC funding may be allocated. The NLC wants the grants to make a difference to the lives of South Africans, especially those more vulnerable and to improve the sustainability of the beneficiary organizations.
Available funds are distributed to registered and qualifying non-profit organizations in fields of charities; arts; culture and national heritage; and sport and recreation. By placing its emphasis on areas of greatest need and potential, the NLC contributes to South Africaโs Development.
